Educational Advocate in Los Angeles, CA
As parents in the Los Angeles area, we face the awesome task of meeting the often-complicated physical, mental, emotional, and educational needs of our children.
I have searched and fought for services and placements for both of my sons. I helped create the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Schools for Advanced Studies (SAS) program, which impacts 50,000 gifted children. I am now working as an educational advocate representing parents of gifted and special needs children to obtain services from their local school districts in the Los Angeles area. With my multidisciplinary background in education, law, health statistics, sociology, and biology, as well as my activism in gifted and special needs education, I work with the highly gifted population, who may have emotional issues as well as learning disabilities. This population is especially challenging because it is particularly difficult to qualify them for services.
From my experience as a parent and from many years of working with educators, I have a fair amount of insight into the education process, and the advocacy tools that work.
